High-strength medium-carbon chromium–molybdenum structural steel supplied to the JIS G4052 specification. SCM 420H is produced by hot forming (hot rolling / hot forging) and is intended for demanding machine-structural applications where improved strength and toughness over plain carbon steels is required.

Key features

  • Conforms to JIS G4052 (SCM 420H) specification
  • Alloying includes chromium and molybdenum with medium carbon content; contains the usual trace elements (P, S, Si, Mn)
  • Supplied in hot-formed condition (hot-rolled / hot-forged) for structural use
  • Wide size availability to suit fabrication and machining requirements:
    • Thickness: 2 – 240 mm
    • Width: 100 – 4,800 mm
    • Length: 100 – 25,000 mm
  • Supplied to ISO 9001:2008 quality management standards; mill/test certification available on request

Typical applications

  • Machine structural components and frames
  • Heavy equipment and general engineering parts where higher strength and alloying benefits are required

Supply & services

  • Available as plates/sheets (flat-rolled product) in the size ranges above
  • Export experience to multiple markets including Japan, Australia, UAE, France, Azerbaijan, Ghana, Germany and Indonesia
  • Custom cutting, edge preparation and inspection/testing can be supplied on request (please include required sizes, volumes and any certification requirements in RFQ)
