High-strength structural steel plate produced to ASTM A572 specifications. A572 Grade 50 is a high-strength, low-alloy (HSLA) structural steel designed for welded, riveted and bolted construction where reduced weight and improved strength are required.
Key features
- Standard: ASTM A572
- Grade: A572 Grade 50 (nominal minimum yield ~345 MPa / 50 ksi)
- Available grades in the same family: A572 Gr42 (290 MPa), Gr50 (345 MPa), Gr60 (415 MPa), Gr65 (450 MPa)
- Production methods: hot-rolled, controlled rolling and normalizing; other processing or heat treatments available on request
- Dimensions: widths commonly offered 1200–4200 mm; lengths commonly offered 3000–18000 mm; thicknesses and cut-to-size options available on request
- Certification: supplied with mill test certificate (MTC) to verify mechanical and chemical properties
- Packing: export-standard packing or customized packaging per buyer requirements
Typical applications
A572 Gr50 plates are used where high strength and improved toughness are required, including shipbuilding, heavy civil and structural engineering, bridges, construction machinery, and general mechanical fabrication. The grade is well suited for welded structures and where weight reduction without loss of strength is important.
Supply and services
Plates can be supplied in full-length plates or cut-to-length sheets, with further processing (cutting, beveling, drilling) available on request. Surface finishes, protective coatings, and additional inspection (e.g., ultrasonic testing) can be arranged to meet project specifications.
Ordering notes
Please specify required grade, thickness, plate dimensions, certification level, and any special processing or testing when requesting a quote. Mill test certificates and material traceability are provided with shipments.
