ASTM A572 high-strength, low-alloy (HSLA) structural steel plate offered in Grade 50 and Grade 60. These plates are produced to the ASTM A572 specification for use in riveted, bolted or welded construction and are intended for heavy structural applications such as bridge components, building frames, cranes and other load-bearing members.
Key features
- Conforms to ASTM A572 specification (structural steel, low-alloy)
- Available grades: Grade 50 (approximately 50 ksi / 345 MPa yield) and Grade 60 (approximately 60 ksi / 415 MPa yield)
- High strength-to-weight ratio for reduced section sizes and weight savings
- Designed for riveted, bolted or welded construction
- Good weldability and formability for structural fabrication
- Typically supplied in mill/heat-treated condition appropriate to the ASTM standard
Typical applications
- Bridge components and structural girders
- Building and industrial steel framing
- Heavy equipment and machinery bases
- Fabricated structural members where higher yield strength is required
Commercial information
- Supplied as flat steel plate in standard industry widths and thicknesses; cut-to-size, profiling and other processing can usually be provided to project requirements
- Material test documentation and compliance certificates available on request to support quality control and project specifications
If you require specific dimensions, mill certificates, cutting or finishing services, please provide the required thickness, length, width and quantity so availability and lead time can be confirmed.
