High-strength low-alloy structural steel plates manufactured to the ASME SA709 specification for bridge and heavy-structure applications. These plates are supplied in multiple grades to meet different strength, toughness and environmental requirements and are produced as hot-rolled plates, quenched & tempered plates, bars and shaped sections.
Key features
- Conforms to ASME SA709 low-alloy steel standard for structural plates used in bridges.
- Available grades include: Grade 36 (250), Grade 50 (345), Grade 50S (345S), QST 50 (QST 345), QST 50S (QST 345S), 50W (345W), HPS 50W (HPS 345W), 50CR (345CR), QST 65 (QST 450), QST 70 (QST 485), HPS 70W (HPS 485W) and HPS 100W (HPS 690W).
- Typical product forms: plates, coils (where coil thickness ≤ 25 mm), bars and structural shapes; quenched & tempered versions available where specified.
Standard dimensional range
- Thickness: 1.5 – 100 mm
- Width: 1,220 – 4,200 mm
- Length: 5,000 – 18,000 mm
- Coil note: coil thickness ≤ 25 mm
Quality & testing
- Chemical composition determined by heat analysis to verify C, Mn, P, S, Si, Cu and other required elements per the SA709 specification.
- Dimensional tolerances and flatness in accordance with ASTM A6 requirements.
Typical applications
- Bridge structural plates and members
- Heavy civil engineering structures and infrastructure
- Fabricated structural components requiring high toughness and controlled chemical/mechanical properties
Ordering options
- Specify grade, thickness, width, length, heat treatment (as applicable) and surface/finish requirements.
