A516 Gr70 N Steel Plates

Carbon steel plates manufactured to ASTM A516 pressure-vessel quality, designed for moderate- and lower-temperature service where good weldability and notch toughness are required. A516 Grade 70 (including the normalized Grade 70N variant) is commonly used for welded pressure vessels, storage tanks and other welded fabrications that must perform at or below ambient temperatures.

• Standards and grades: manufactured to ASTM A516; available in Grade 50, 60, 65 and 70 (A516 Gr70 and A516 Gr70 N).
• Typical applications: pressure vessels, boilers, oil & gas storage tanks, petrochemical and other welded pressure-containing fabrications.
• Supply condition: normally supplied as-rolled for thinner plates (as noted by standard practice); normalized or stress-relieved conditions can be arranged when specified prior to order.
• Chemical characteristics: carbon steel with controlled amounts of manganese, phosphorus, sulfur and silicon within ASTM A516 limits to provide the required mechanical properties and weldability.
• Size range (typical offering): thickness from 8 mm up to 300 mm; widths from 1,500 mm to 4,020 mm; lengths from 3,000 mm to 27,000 mm. (Confirm exact cut sizes and tolerances at enquiry.)

Ordering notes

• Specify grade (50/60/65/70), thickness, dimensions, required supply condition (as-rolled / normalized / stress-relieved) and any additional processing (cutting, edge preparation, testing) when requesting an RFQ.
