A low‑carbon, high‑tensile structural steel produced to DIN 17100 as grade St50‑2. Supplied as plates, sheets, coils and structural sections, this material is intended for heavy structural and offshore applications where weldability, good cold‑forming properties and consistent mechanical performance are required.
Key features
- Conforms to DIN 17100 (grade St50‑2).
- Produced by a fully killed steel process; available in normalized or controlled rolling conditions.
- Good weldability and cold forming owing to low carbon equivalent.
- Third‑party inspection reports and material datasheets available on request.
Typical dimensions and forms available
- Thickness: 2 mm – 300 mm
- Width: 1,000 mm – 4,500 mm
- Length: 3,000 mm – 18,000 mm
- Shapes: plates, sheets, coils, angles, round bars, square bars, flat bars, H‑beams, channels
- Surface finish: bare, galvanized/coated or per customer specification
- Supply conditions: as‑rolled, normalized rolling, furnace normalizing, vacuum degassing, or per customer requirement
Mechanical properties (typical for St50‑2)
- Yield strength (σ0.2): approx. 295 MPa
- Tensile strength (σb) for thickness ≤43 mm: 490–660 MPa
- Elongation (A) L/T for 3–40 mm: 20% / 18%
Applications
- Offshore structures and platforms
- Bridges, buildings and heavy structural components
- General engineering and fabrication where high strength and good weldability are required
Ordering and quality assurance
Available for project quantities or mill‑cut orders. Supply includes mill certificates and can include third‑party inspection and testing (chemical analysis, mechanical testing and certification) on request. For quotations, specify required form (plate, coil or profile), thickness, dimensions, surface finish and any certification requirements.
