High-strength, fine-grained structural steel plate produced to EN 10025-4 standard. S420ML is a thermomechanically rolled (TMCP) low-alloy grade with a minimum yield strength of 420 N/mm² and good low-temperature toughness (L). The material is weldable and offers excellent flangeability, enabling lighter, more efficient welded structures and fewer weld seams without compromising durability.
Key features
- Standard: EN 10025-4
- Grade: S420ML (thermo-mechanically rolled, low-temperature tough)
- Yield strength: 420 N/mm² (nominal)
- Heat treatment: Thermo-Mechanical Control Process (TMCP)
- Important processing note: reheating above ~580°C can reduce the thermomechanically developed strength
Typical dimensions (available ranges)
- Thickness: 5 mm – 150 mm
- Width: 1,500 mm – 3,550 mm
- Length: 3,000 mm – 18,000 mm
Common applications
- Welded and load-bearing structures (bridges, frames, support structures)
- Fixed and movable storage containers
- Pressure and pipeline components where high strength and toughness are required
- Fabricated steel components that benefit from reduced plate thickness and improved formability
Commercial options and supply considerations
- Supplied in thermo-mechanically rolled condition
- Suitable for common welding and forming processes (confirm joint design and PWHT as required by application)
- Mill test/certification and dimensional cutting or processing can be supplied on request (specify delivery condition and inspection requirements at RFQ stage)
For RFQs, specify required plate thickness, width/length tolerances, surface condition, and any certification or testing standards required so offers can be tailored to your project needs.
