A compact vertical centrifugal self-priming vacuum unit designed to prime emergency fire pumps in marine and industrial fire-protection systems. The unit provides rapid automatic or manual priming so the main fire pump can start reliably after an emergency call.
Key features and performance
- Self-priming vacuum design optimized for emergency fire-pump applications
- Maximum suction capacity: 80 m3/h
- Maximum suction (priming) lift: 8.5 m
- Applicable discharge/piping diameter: DN100–DN450
- Typical priming/evacuation time: 8–45 seconds (varies with pipe diameter and system layout)
- Required make-up/working water supply: 1.5 m3/h at approximately 0.2–0.5 kgf/cm²
- Suction port and inlet fitted with filter screens to prevent debris ingestion
- Can be installed horizontally on the fire-pump body or mounted separately
- Rotation: clockwise (as indicated on the unit)
- Start modes: manual and automatic
Installation and operation notes
- Connect the vacuum unit suction port to the fire pump outlet; fit a gate valve on the fire-pump outlet line for isolation
- Working/circulating water should be supplied from a tank positioned above the vacuum pump or from an external source meeting the stated flow and pressure requirements
- Ensure inlet and suction filters are in place and maintained to avoid pump damage from foreign objects
- Do not operate the vacuum pump without supply (working) water
Control logic (summary)
- Manual mode: press start switch → contactor closes → vacuum pump runs and solenoid valve opens → when water discharges from the vacuum outlet, start the main fire pump → press vacuum pump stop switch → vacuum pump and solenoid valve stop; fire pump continues in normal operation
- Automatic mode: pressing the start button energizes the contactor and solenoid valve, starting the vacuum pump. When the vent/water-flow switch detects discharge, the control relay changes state to de-energize the vacuum unit and provide a normally open signal to the fire-pump control panel to allow automatic start
Typical applications
- Marine emergency fire pumps on ships and offshore vessels
- Fixed fire-protection pump sets where reliable, fast priming is required
- Systems that require an automatic/manual priming backup for the main fire pump
This unit is intended for integrators and facilities specifying reliable priming performance for emergency fire-pumping systems. For system matching, provide details of pump curve, suction and discharge piping, and control-panel interface requirements when requesting a quote or technical drawings.
