- Quenched and tempered condition for high yield strength.
- For plates up to 2-1/2" (63.5 mm) thickness: minimum yield strength ≥ 100 ksi (690 MPa).
- For plates > 2-1/2" and ≤ 6" (63.5–152.4 mm): minimum yield strength typically 90 ksi (620 MPa).
- Low carbon content and fine-grain practice to support welding and structural performance.

- Optimized chemistry and heat treatment deliver a high strength-to-weight ratio, allowing thinner sections and lower assembly weight in many applications.
- Suitable for welded structures when appropriate welding procedures and qualifications are followed; preheat/post-weld requirements depend on thickness and fabrication details.
