Vertical immersible centrifugal pumps constructed from fiberglass-reinforced phenolic (FRP) materials for corrosion-resistant handling of aggressive liquids. Available in two styles: the FSY vertical FRP submerged centrifugal pump (radial/centrifugal impeller) and the WSY vertical FRP submerged vortex pump (vortex-style impeller). Both designs are intended for permanent immersion in tanks or pits and operate reliably when the liquid level is above the pump body.
Key features
- Wet parts made entirely from phenolic-modified fiberglass (high-temperature molding phenolic FRP): impeller, casing, connecting tube and fluid passages are FRP; no metal contacts the pumped fluid.
- Corrosion resistance: suitable for many oxidizing acids and other corrosive liquids where stainless or exotic-metal pumps would be considered.
- Lightweight and high strength: FRP construction delivers low weight, good dimensional stability and heat resistance.
- Immersion depth: designed for submerged installation with typical immersion depths from 800 mm to 3,000 mm.
- Self-priming in tank service: will operate without separate priming provided the liquid level remains above the pump body.
- Leak control: flat cover plate includes a leakage hole to prevent tank leakage issues.
- Drive and rotation: direct-driven by motor via a claw-type elastic coupling; rotation is clockwise looking from the motor end.
Operating limits and suitable fluids
- Maximum liquid temperature: up to 100 °C.
- Suitable for corrosive acids and many chemical liquids (examples: hydrochloric acid, dilute sulfuric acid, formic acid, acetic acid, butyric acid) provided the fluid does not contain abrasive or suspended solids and is not prone to crystallization.
- Not recommended for slurries or liquids with significant solid particles or for fluids that readily crystallize or polymerize in the pump.
Typical applications
- Chemical processing, petrochemical and refining plants
- Dye and pigment manufacturing
- Pesticide and pharmaceutical production
- Fertilizer and rare-earth processing
Selection and ordering information
When specifying or ordering, provide: pump type (FSY centrifugal or WSY vortex), required flow rate (m3/h), total head (m), liquid temperature, chemical composition and concentration, immersion depth, motor power and speed (rpm), connection sizes, and any site-specific constraints (tank dimensions, mounting). This information allows correct sizing and material verification for your corrosive-service application.
Maintenance notes
- Periodically inspect the elastic coupling and motor alignment.
- Check the leakage/drain hole and cover plate for blockage.
- Monitor for any unusual vibration or flow reduction, and confirm liquid properties remain within specified limits (no solids, no crystallization).
