Chromium–Molybdenum alloy steel plate for elevated-temperature pressure applications

ASTM A387 Grade 11 Class 2 plates are Cr–Mo alloy steel plates engineered for welded boilers, pressure vessels and other components exposed to elevated temperature and pressure. These plates combine high strength at temperature with good toughness and compatibility with common pressure-vessel fabrication practices.

Key features

  • Conforms to ASTM A387 Grade 11 Class 2. Suitable where chromium–molybdenum alloy steel is specified.
  • Intended use: welded boilers, pressure vessels and heat-resistant structural parts operating at elevated temperatures.
  • Design note: per the ASTM standard, the specified minimum yield strength is reduced for plate thicknesses over 1 in (25 mm).

Available sizes

  • Thickness: 3–150 mm
  • Width: 1,220–4,200 mm
  • Length: 5,000–18,000 mm

Inspection, testing and services

  • Chemical composition analysis
  • Tensile testing (including high-temperature tensile where required)
  • Charpy V-Notch impact testing
  • Drop-weight testing
  • Ultrasonic examination (UT)
  • Magnetic particle inspection (MPI)
  • Dimensional and visual inspection
  • Cut-to-size and machining/fabrication to customer drawings

Quality and supply

  • Plates are offered from stock and can be supplied cut or machined to order.
  • Supplied under an independently audited quality system (ISO 9001 stated by supplier).

Typical purchasers

  • Pressure-vessel fabricators
  • Boiler manufacturers
  • Petrochemical and power plant fabricators
  • Industrial equipment manufacturers seeking elevated-temperature Cr–Mo plate

If you require certified test reports, specific machining tolerances, or bespoke heat-treatment and inspection programs, include those requirements with your RFQ so the supplier can confirm capabilities and lead times.
