CELBLOX® Insulating Concrete Forms – Building ICF homes that are Energy Efficient, Tornado and Hurricane Resistant, Fire and Earthquake Resistant, Quiet, Comfortable and Beautiful. At the same time, CELBLOX® make a home incredibly energy efficient, livable and sustainable. CELBLOX® has been in business as an ICF manufacturer since 1961 and is committed to Quality, Service and People.
A CELBLOX® Performance Wall System consists of insulating concrete forms which are manufactured interlocking modular concrete form-work made of rigid expanded polystyrene and polypropylene s and ties. The polypropylene s are embedded in the foam panels at 8” on center and behave as traditional wood studs for fastening anything that needs to be fastened to either the external or interior walls. Concrete is poured into the forms just as it would be into wooden forms, but the polystyrene sides remain a part of the concrete wall to provide performance R-value, moisture control and both an air and sound barrier. CELBLOX® in above grade walls need no external moisture or air barrier, no airspace, no external insulation, no plywood sheathing, no studs, no batt insulation and no permeable vapor barrier to the interior.
CELBLOX® fold completely flat (a patented design) and so reduce the amount of space required for storage on the job site. They are preassembled and need no on-site assembly before stacking - they pop open ready for placement.
CELBLOX® Insulating concrete forms are considered a “green” building material and can actually provide up to 37 of a possible 110 LEED credits to a structure just through their use.
The monolithic structural concrete wall system enabled by CELBLOX® is ten times stronger than a wood framed wall. As a result, a CELBLOX® performance wall system will withstand wind speeds of up to 250 miles per hour and will more than stand up to the positive and negative pressures from a hurricane or tornado. A CELBLOX® performance wall will resist flying debris at 100 miles per hour. It resists seismic events because it has over six times the racking load resistance and it provides the stiffness and ductility required compared to wood frame alternatives. A CELBLOX® performance wall system is non-combustible and has up to a four hour fire rating, resisting temperatures of up to 2000°. A CELBLOX® concrete building may qualify for reduced homeowner’s insurance due to its resilience and resistance to fire and climate disasters of all kinds.
CELBLOX® are approved by all major North American code bodies including the ICC, Miami-Dade, and the CCMC. ICC-ES Code # ESR-1525, listed as a prescriptive method of building in the IRC (R404.4 and R611), can be built to commercial design specification using the IBC and has Wisconsin Building Product Approval #200710-1.
